Review by Paul Caravasi: PaganFire-Wreaking Fear And Death (Cassette) PaganFire are from Philippines. This is my first encounter with this band. These guys play Thrash Metal with just a dash of Death Metal thrown in for an almost Brazilian Feel, they mix it up with the best of them, musically and vocally. The fusion of raw brutality always serves for a good listen (check out the song Obscure Syndrome), you would have to be deaf not to detect the distinct old Sepultura/Kreator influences, but i suppose all of us Metalheads are influenced by early Sepultura and Kreator in some way. It appears living in Philippines has provided a little anger and fury for the band, as it shows in their writing, at least in the songs that are in english (some of them are in their native language). An excellent release that gets better with every listen. I eagerly await the new stuff. Long live cassettes!! check it out here: aquelarrezine.blogspot.com/2013/05/paganfire-wreaking-fear-and-death.html

Review from VOICES FROM THE DARKSIDE PAGANFIRE Wreaking Fear And Death (Mandarangan Recordings) 37:39min Wow, are these the Philippines' NUNSLAUGHTER? While not longer around than since 2003 this four-piece has already a discography counting some 20+ releases yet only one full-length namely “Wreaking Fear And Death” which I'm going to tell you a bit more about in a minute, but first I got the band name of the week for ya as I found these among PAGANFIRE's split partners…so, hold your breath…drum whirl…here it comes: CUM SOCK! Brilliant! Hahaha, but back to our Thrashers here: eating their cereals with early 80s KREATOR pills and rotten milk smelling of SARCOFAGO has definitely worked well on these lads as “Wreaking Fear And Death” should immediately appeal to fans of primitive, raw and – to be honest – often entertainingly dilettantish Thrash with slightly too loud drums, ripping axes and out of control vocals imitating Mille with a funny Asian accent and overly dark and possessed atmosphere that is quite enjoyable. As this whole affair tiptoes into Black / Thrash territory the competitors are many and most often better than PAGANFIRE but if you are looking for the naïve original flair of the beginnings of extreme music with a certain exotic bonus the band's burning fire burns just for you. I'm more into the tight ass American classic brand of Thrash, so it's definitely a matter of taste, blondes or brunettes, beer or whiskey, pizza or pasta. Listen to 'Lust Possessed' here. Order some filthy fukked up Thrash here: www.mandarangan.comStefan Franke check it out here: www.voicesfromthedarkside.de/Albums-EPs-Demos/P/PAGANFIRE--8234.html

REVIEW by Wille Desamero....argh!!!
Paganfire-Wreaking Fear And Death (Afterlife Productions/Mandarangan Recordings, Cassette 2013) After a decade long of enforcing the real law (METAL!) amongst an ocean of clueless pretenders and scenesters which have plagued the underground scene, time has now arrived for Paganfire’s most vicious statement yet, their full-length album, “Wreaking Fear and Death”. My original copy of this was a cassette promo self released by the band themselves and was given to me by bassist/vocalist, Vro last year, by now it is officially released by 2 labels on tape, no less, by Malaysia’s Afterlife Production, and Mandarangan Recordings, USA, respectively, will echo resoundingly among fans of true aggressive thrash. The album begins with a pounding Van Halen-esque (“Running With The Devil”) thumping bass riff, but don’t let that fool you because it charges and builds up into the anthemic, “Bakal Sa Bakal, Laman Sa Laman” leading into some of PF’s most furious tracks such as “Obscure Syndrome”, “Power Elitist”, “Filth Of Beliefs” among others, and ending properly with another Tagalog-sung, “Durugin At Kayo’y Sumpain”. The songs have a darker, almost death metal feel than PF’s previous releases-which is very much a welcome change to these ears. I have become rather wary and sick of what has thrash metal had become in the recent years with the resurgence of these mosh-friendly, retro fun-thrashers and all those trendy thrashers bands polluting the underground, but this album by Paganfire makes thrash metal great again! Paganfire - Wreaking Fear and Death (2013)
For the last decade, these Filipino miscreants' name has been circulating in the underground: a few dozen demos and splits later, these Quezon City maniacs finally release their long-awaited debut album upon the masses, entitled Wreaking Fear and Death. Paganfire plays an almost "sloppy" kind of thrash, with elements reminiscent of bands such as Sodom, Mutilator, Sabbat, etc. After so much overpolished, bland modern thrash with bands who sing about getting laid and the local pizza scene -- it's always refreshing to see bands like Paganfire keeping it real and spreading the hate. The production is considerably raw, while still keeping the performance audible. It's a kind of obscure evil thrash that is close to black/death metal at times. Wreaking Fear and Death is a little underground beast that is sure to send the hippies packing. (Mongrel)

BAND: PAGANFIRE TITLE: WREAKING FEAR AND DEATH COUNTRY: PHILIPPINES LABEL: MANDARANGAN RECORDIGS FORMAT / YEAR: KCT-2013 SCORE: 5/3 This is another release from the Mandarangan Recordings label who send us this tape, to review them to you, the maniacs who take some time to read us. Paganfire, do not escape its name, are pure fire and powder on all four sides, they in all their extent, flaunt their noisy fury, with riffs and basic thrash arrangements with conventional arrangements, but very powerful, a proposal by sound and the way to face the tracks resembles those thraser's of the early nineties, we do not have some outdated but others who still believe in music made with enthusiasm and underground spirit away from conventions, fashions, postures, tendencies, but simply some thraser's that only look for impetu, metal actidud in Bakal sa bakal, laman sa laman, Obscure Syndrome, Power Elitist, Lust Possessed, By: Glibert V
